Build choral-orchestral skills and advance your career in a supportive learning environment with master teachers.
Chorus America’s Conducting Academy gives choral conductors a unique opportunity to develop choral-orchestral skills and enhance their university training.
During this week-long program, participating conductors will have the opportunity to conduct choral-orchestral repertoire including the Mozart Requiem and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms in celebration of the Bernstein Centennial. A professional orchestra and chorus will be in residence, and the Academy culminates with a final performance in Meng Concert Hall.
The Conducting Academy is hosted by California State University, Fullerton. A world-class faculty offers podium coaching, video review sessions, individual instruction, and symposia on topics such as classical period performance practice, score preparation, and orchestral rehearsal procedures.
Conducting Fellows and Scholars will be selected through an application process. The opportunity to participate as a Daily Observer will be available as well.
Fellow and Scholar applications are now open!
The deadline to apply is January 19. Visit our Registration page for details and requirements.
The 2018 Conducting Academy is sponsored by California State University, Fullerton and the Pacific Chorale. Funding support provided by Chorus America’s John Alexander Conducting Faculty Chair endowment and the National Endowment for the Arts.
