Avshalomov "Enchanted River" now available in SA

David Avshalomov's beautiful romantic song, "Enchanted River," from singer/lyricist Meredith Kennedy's "Blue Sky" album, is now available in an easy SA version, with optional soprano solo at the start. It is a sweet, simple Irish-folk-style tune about a river that invites the heartbroken poet's wanderlust, leaving a longing lover behind. Accompaniment is harp (or piano) with optional (intermediate) violin. The lyric (see below) is age-suitable, and the setting accessible, for girls' chorus (middle school up), and easy for community women's choruses. Duration: 2 minutes.

ENCHANTED RIVER

by Meredith Kennedy

I want to take Enchanted River
along its long and winding way,
don’t wait to call my name aloud,
Where I have gone, I cannot hear .

I have to go, I have to follow,
the river calls my heart to fly,
and if you call my name tomorrow,
I will have gone along its way.

And if I find its magic waters
can soothe my heart and ease my pain,
if you will call my name in sorrow,
then I will find my home again.

I have to go, I have to follow,
the river calls my heart to fly,
and if you call my name tomorrow,
I will have gone along its way.

And if I know my heart is breaking,
then I will never find my way
so I will go before you call me,
before you sweetly call my name.

And if you call my name tomorrow,
I will have gone along its way
and if you find Enchanted River
then you will know my name again.

I have to go, I have to follow,
the river calls my heart to fly,
and if you call my name tomorrow,

I will have gone along its way.
