Spotlight on Seattle
This year's Conference is all about "Fresh Air, Fresh Ideas" and there's no better place to get inspired than a city that's known for green energy, fantastic coffee, and a vibrant choral scene.
Hosted by Seattle Pro Musica and Seattle Symphony and Seattle Symphony Chorale, the 2013 Conference performances showcase the wealth of talent the Pacific Northwest has to offer, including a wide variety of ensembles from both the U.S. and Canada. In celebration of the centenary of composer Benjamin Britten's birth, many programs feature his work, including a special Thursday night performance of his War Requiem. You'll also enjoy concerts featuring Cappella Romana, Coastal Sound Youth Choir, Choral Arts, Elektra Women's Choir, Northwest Girlchoir, and Opus 7.
Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Seattle within walking distance of all Conference events, the Red Lion Hotel is the perfect home base from which to explore the city. And if you have any questions about Seattle's lively vibe - or weather - this tongue-in-cheek video from co-hosts Seattle Pro Musica will put them to rest!
We have just added new Breakout Session descriptions to our Conference website, which is packed with information about speakers, networking events, performances, special events, and much more.
Arrive in time to take advantage of one of the Wednesday afternoon in-depth seminars and hone your skills in fundraising, social media, or using digital marketing to reach your patrons more effectively. Get inspired by plenary speakers sharing insights on choral music, changing demographics, community engagement, blending artistic and management roles, and other current ideas shaping the future of choruses. And continue to check this website for developing information about more than 30 hands-on breakout sessions, focusing on important issues in chorus leadership and management like nonprofit finance, effective board leadership involvement, low-cost technology solutions, and much more.
Known for a friendly vibe and intimate networking opportunities, Chorus America Conferences provide valuable time to connect with your colleagues. You’ll be able to talk to potential business partners in our Exhibitor Area, consult one-on-one with veteran choral leaders at our popular Buttonholes, and mingle with old friends and new acquaintances at special events like the Banquet & Auction. You know those people who seem to know everyone? Chances are they met them at a Chorus America Conference!
Online registration for the Conference closes May 24. Be sure to register today - we look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
