Ana Luisa Fajer Flores

Ana Luisa Fajer Flores became Consul of México in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2008. Previously she was director general for Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in México City. She earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations at the Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM), a master’s degree in African studies at El Colegio de México and a Ford-McArthur Foundation Fellowship for Post-Graduate Studies in sociology at the University of California in Santa Cruz.  She has written on modern day Africa and foreign policy in newspapers, scholarly journals, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Revista Mexicana de Política Exterior. She speaks widely and has taught international affairs at the UNAM, Universidad Iberoamericana, the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITAM), and the University of California in Santa Cruz. She has collaborated on planning conferences in economic relations and investment as well as cultural and community affairs, including the successful México Day at Best Buy in 2009 and Medtronic in 2010.

Consul Fajer received the Courage in Leadership Award from the MN Hispanic Bar Association, the 2009 Community Builder of the Year award, on behalf of Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES), and most recently a Certificate of Commendation awarded by the former Governor of the State of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty. She is a Minnesota International Center (MIC) Board Member and an ex-officio member of the Hennepin Health Foundation Board of Directors and CLUES Community Advisory Group. She has been a member of the ¡Cantaré! Cultural Advisory Committee since 2008.
