The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) could be the law that puts music back in all classrooms. ESSA replaces No Child Left Behind, the current version of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. In terms of emphasis on requirements, it might not be that different than No Child Left Behind, but as for philosophy on reform, it is radically different, according to Lynn M. If you were lucky enough to see the Diablo Women’s Chorale holiday show in December, then you know what fun and music are all about. The Chorale sang a dozen tunes in both new versions and old, and had the audience of 350 standing on their feet in a finale sing-along. The Chorale is looking for more lucky singers to join them for this upcoming year, 2016. The spring season promises to be a rousing time with selections from Queen, Elvis and recent Disney princess ballads. Read more
