Political Commentary through Song in Uruguay

Uruguay is home to the longest annual Carnaval in the world - 40 days of celebration. Important to this yearly tradition are the murga choirs. Satirical by nature, with choir members dressed head to toe in make-up and circus-like outfits, these choirs mock everything from everyday frustrations to political corruption.
