We are a vibrant, appreciative and progressive Christian congregation looking for an experienced church musician with imagination, flexibility, enthusiasm, wide musical background, and ability to work with and expand a well-developed musical program.
The primary responsibility of the position is to conduct the Chancel Choir on Sunday mornings and to hold one choir rehearsal per week (currently Thursday evenings, though the day and time are negotiable). We have a large, acoustically superb space, a 30-voice + choir, a Letourneau pipe organ, Yamaha 7' grand piano, a Roland digital harpsichord, and hand bells.
Along with the above, the Choral Conductor is responsible for leading and choosing repertoire for the First Congregational Church-sponsored choral group, The Oratorio Society, and to program the wide variety of the Congregational Concert Series, on which the Oratorio Society performs.
At First Congregational we're proud of our music, and have a wide variety of ages and abilities participating. We will be enthusiastic and welcoming to someone who can help us continue this tradition and also take us in new directions.
Salary: $30-40K, commensurate with experience
Hours: Part time, 10-15 hours per week
