Mary Doughty Mauch
Mary Doughty Mauch has a wide range of experience as a choral conductor, music teacher, singer, and accompanist. As the spouse of a now-retired Air Force officer, she had the opportunity to study, sing, and conduct throughout the United States and Europe.
She earned a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education with Honors from the University of Illinois and a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
She has been a member of the professional core and/or chamber choirs of several major symphony and professional choruses including the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, the Virginia Symphony Chorus, the Virginia Chorale, the Las Vegas Master Singers, the Frankfurter Kantorei, and the Darmstadt Konzertchor.
Her teaching experiences in schools range from kindergarten through college in addition to conducting countless semi-professional, community, and church choirs in both the United States and Germany. She was an active chorale clinician in Stuttgart, Germany and has always enjoyed teaching both piano and voice private students. She is currently serving as a coach for Anima – Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus and a conductor for an Encore Chorale (serving senior singers) in the Chicago area.
In addition, Mary is a successful community organizer. She is the Founder and Executive Director for Block RICL: BlockRICL.com, a small grass roots movement founded in 2012 that has grown to 9 states and more than 12 spin-offs. It is now a model for similar grassroots organizations forming across the Midwest and U.S. In addition, she created the Illinois Landowners Alliance and attributes its success to principles learned at Chorus America. This work has resulted in an unprecedented legal battle at the Illinois Commerce Commission, in the Illinois Appellate Court, and is currently at the Illinois Supreme Court to preserve landowners’ rights.
