PYC Choir Manager - Position Description

 Do you enjoy working with children and families? Are you interested in helping young musicians grow into responsible and caring community members? If so, then the Pennsylvania Youth Chorale may be the perfect place for you!

The Pennsylvania Youth Chorale (PYC) is a community children’s choir founded in 1977, and this program is currently seeking a new Choir Manager. The Choir Manager is responsible for providing organizational and foundational support for the PYC.  Key areas include:  

  1. Working with the Artistic Director to confirm the schedule.

  2. Chairing the Chaperone Committee.

  3. Serving on the Board of Directors.

  4. Coordinating venues and required facility needs for events. 

  5. Attending all events (concerts, sing-ins, and tours) to ensure they run smoothly.

  6. Coordinating touring logistics. Day and Short Tours are fully organized by the Choir Manager. Choir Manager works with the designated contact for any biennial Long Tour activities. (next tour in summer 2022).

  7. Leading parent information sessions during auditions.

 

Qualified candidates will have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and must be comfortable interacting with children and families. Musical training and/or background is not required or expected. Applicants will be asked to submit their Child Abuse clearance and PA Background Check. The successful candidate will receive a biannual stipend.

The PYC provides its students with exceptional vocal training and music theory lessons in a choral ensemble setting. The PYC also works with young singers during rehearsals and through touring to help them develop the character traits and skills necessary to represent themselves as young professionals.

 

 

Compensation and Benefits: 

The successful candidate will receive a biannual stipend.
