The Department of Music at St. Olaf College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in choral conducting and voice at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 15, 2020. 

Position Description:

Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to supporting a thriving and diverse undergraduate music program. They should exemplify excellence in choral conducting and vocal pedagogy and possess a strong interest in the preparation of a new generation of musicians. A master's degree with several years of professional experience is required; a doctorate in choral conducting is preferred.

The Department is particularly interested in applicants who will continue to contribute to our diverse community and broaden our curricular offerings. The normal teaching load is equivalent to six courses per year. Regular teaching responsibilities include conducting two choral ensembles (the Chapel Choir, an SATB-mixed voice choir of sophomores through seniors, and the Viking Chorus for first-year tenor/bass singers), teaching voice lessons, and other coursework such as choral conducting and/or choral literature. There are also opportunities to teach interdisciplinary courses such as Music and Social Justice. Duties also involve advising, committee service, and departmental obligations, including participation as a member of the St. Olaf Christmas Festival Artistic Committee.

Compensation and Benefits: 

Salary commensurate with expereience.
