Vocal and Conducting Apprenticeships Available with Berkshire Choral International

Berkshire Choral International (BCI) is offering a free apprentice program for undergraduate and graduate vocal performance and choral conducting students. Our week long programs are an intensive choral experience providing apprentices with the opportunity to study and rehearse major choral-orchestral works with eminent conductors and soloists. Our Summer 2020 conductors include Grant Gershon, Julian Wachner, Saul Zaks, and Joe Miller. Musical activities include participating in five hours of choral rehearsals per day; attending classes taught by our faculty; receiving complimentary private lessons and coaching from our faculty; and performing in a joint recital with our faculty.

Remuneration for the apprentice program includes free tuition, room and board.  BCI will provide a travel stipend of up to $700 (domestic) and $1500 (international).   This stipend can be used towards airfare and round trip travel to and from the venue.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, stating their interest in being a BCI apprentice; a current résumé noting musical and educational accomplishments; a letter of recommendation from a teacher or music professional and an audio recording of 3 contrasting art songs or arias sung in at least two languages. Conducting apprentices should submit a video clip (of not more than 20 minutes in length) of a rehearsal or two.  A performance clip may be included as well, but is not required.
