The Philadelphia Singers Record Randall Thompson's Requiem

Directly following their special encore presentation of Randall Thompson's Requiem, The Philadelphia Singers will be entering the recording studio on January 25-26, 2014 to make the first-ever recording of this American masterpiece.  Due to the acappella nature, as well as the extreme difficulty of the writing, this piece has suffered in obscurity for over 50 years.  Finally, through this recording featuring 60 professional singers, the piece will once again be able to take it's rightful place within the American music idiom. This project is generously funded by The Presser Foundation, the William Penn Foundation, the Dolfinger-MacMahon Foundation, Robert E. Mortensen, and Roberta & William Potsic.  The recording will be released in spring 2014.
