Mawby Chorale Celebrates 25th Anniversary With Commissioned Work

The sixty member Carolyn Mawby Chorale celebrates its’ 25th Anniversary season with the commission of a new choral work, “When Music Sounds” by David Dickau, to premiere at their May 20, 2012 Anniversary Concert.  Also, to mark this special season, the group has released a commemorative CD, “Christmas with the Carolyn Mawby Chorale”.

Based in Flint, Michigan, the Chorale was initially founded in 1987 by sixteen alumni of the University of Michigan - Flint Chamber Singers. As undergraduates, they sang under the direction of Carolyn Mawby. In 1994, the ensemble opened its membership to non-alumni, grew rapidly and established itself throughout the state, performing a diverse and artistic repertoire. And, most recently members were proud to honor the founding and current director by naming the group the Carolyn Mawby Chorale.
