$25,000 Awarded to the Cincinnati Children's Choir

CCC receives $25,000 in grants to fund new Director of Education position

The Cincinnati Children’s Choir has received $25,000 in grants to help fund the new Director of Education position for two years.

CINCINNATI (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) – The Cincinnati Children’s Choir (CCC) has received generous grant awards from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation and The William O. Purdy, Jr. Fund of GCF totaling $25,000 to help fund the newly created Director of Education position for two years.

Over the past 22 years, the Cincinnati Children’s Choir has grown into a program that serves over 950 boys and girls annually. In order to effectively manage the educational sequencing of the program, a new Director of Education position has been created. This position strengthens CCC's educational leadership in a time of growth and enhances its ability to fulfill its mission of offering all children the opportunity to experience musical excellence in a creative environment. The Director of Education will work to ensure a unified educational curriculum, a consistent level of artistic standards, and clear communication within the organization and to the community at-large.

CCC is an educationally based choral ensemble program that provides musical excellence and high artistic standards for singers in a developmentally appropriate, sequential setting. Participants learn healthy vocal technique, sight-reading, music history, and music theory while experiencing performance excellence. The Director of Education position will strengthen the entire program by better preparing younger singers as they move through the choir levels.

About The William O. Purdy, Jr. Foundation

The William O. Purdy, Jr. Foundation was established by William O. Purdy, Jr. in 1988. Mr. Purdy died in 1998 and the Foundation was the beneficiary of virtually all of his assets. He served as Senior Vice President of American Money Management Corporation, a subsidiary of American Financial Group until he retired in 1995. An enthusiastic patron of the arts, Mr. Purdy at one time served as a trustee of the Hartford Ballet. The Trustees of the Foundation have resolved to focus the charitable endeavors of the Foundation on arts organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area, particularly the performing arts, in the belief that the Foundation would continue the charitable activities undertaken by Mr. Purdy during his lifetime. In 2010, the Trustees of the Purdy Foundation determined that a formal conversion to an advised fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation would be the best option for the perpetual and efficient administration of Mr. Purdy's legacy.
