The Executive Director, reporting to CCGD’s Board of Directors, assumes responsibility for the management of all human and financial resources needed to achieve CCGD’s mission. Overall responsibilities include maximizing earned and contributed revenue; cultivating audience and community relationships; and overseeing all administrative, operational, and financial activities to ensure the continued success of CCGD. As the public face of the organization, the Executive Director is responsible for presenting positive images to young musicians, parents, donors, and members of the community regarding CCGD’s programs and role in music education. These multifaceted responsibilities call for demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; nonprofit management experience; and an ability to collaborate with artistic and administrative staff, board, and community members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, implement, and coordinate all fundraising activities, including annual fund drives, corporate sponsorships, public and private grants, special events, and new initiatives.
- Maintain and establish relationships with foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Oversee stewardship of current donors and cultivation efforts of donor prospects.
- Work with CCGD’s Development Committee to maximize Board participation in fundraising. Provide staff support to assist committee members with execution of concepts and plans.
- Maintain CCGD’s donor database (PatronManager).
- Work with Treasurer to develop annual budgets and cash-flow projections. Prepare quarterly budget projections to be shared at CCGD Board meetings.
- Manage annual audit of CCGD financial statements.
- Work with CCGD’s Endowment Committee to maximize earnings of the Endowment Fund.
- Engage Board members to maximize their participation in CCGD and their contribution toward its success and growth.
- Coordinate preparation of Board meeting agendas and chair reports.
- Provide staff support to assigned Board committees including Development, Executive, Marketing, and Strategy.
- Work with the Executive Committee to identify, cultivate, and recruit new Board members.
- Play an active role in the orientation, education, and engagement of new and existing Board members.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate season and single-ticket campaigns, as well as marketing and public relations strategies including electronic, print, radio, television, and promotional materials as needed.
- Work with CCGD’s Marketing Committee to maximize earned revenue campaigns. Provide staff support to assist committee members with execution of concepts and plans.
- Develop relationships with local media and prepare news releases regarding the activities of CCGD.
- Serve as the public face of CCGD, clearly articulating and advocating for the Chorus’s mission and impact with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Make regular updates to CCGD’s website and social media platforms.
- Manage business arrangements for all tours.
- Oversee production aspects of all CCGD performances.
- Oversee negotiation of all contracts and agreements, including guest artist performance fees, sale-of-service contracts, and rehearsal and performance space rentals.
- Drive efforts for long-term strategic planning, working in partnership with CCGD’s Artistic Director and Board.
- Work with CCGD’s Strategy Committee to evaluate organizational progress towards goals outlined in Strategic Plan, and revise Plan as needed.
- Work with Artistic Director to identify areas for possible expansion of programs and ventures.

Qualified applicants will have a master’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of senior management experience with a successful track record in the performing arts, nonprofit, or youth education sectors. Knowledge of and passion for classical music and arts education are preferred. Experience working with boards in achieving earned and contributed revenue goals is expected, as are excellent written and verbal presentation and financial management skills. Competency and comfort with all standard computer applications and equipment (Microsoft Office) is mandatory. Experience with patron databases, Adobe design software, and website content management systems is preferred. Background screening of applicants will be considered before offer of employment.
