Assistant Teaching Professor – Choral Conducting – Department of Music
The Department of Music at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor (Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment) in the field of choral directing. This position is an Academic Senate position and has the potential for security of employment. The expected start date is July 1, 2018.
We seek an experienced and accomplished conductor to direct and conduct our choruses, administer the choral and vocal instruction programs, and teach conducting. We encourage innovative programming and competence across all eras and areas of choral music, with particular attention to new music.
Basic Minimum Qualifications: An MA, MM, or equivalent degree in music is required at the time of application.
Additional Qualifications: An ability to teach and direct undergraduate music majors, non-majors, and graduate students. An innovative approach to teaching and program design that encompasses various musical practices.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree or equivalent professional experience. An additional area of expertise in vocal or keyboard performance, opera, composition or theory.
