In its eighteen seasons, the Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers has performed with world renowned soloists and conductors; been part of tours to Italy, Spain, and, nextseason, to France; and, dramatically enhanced the cultural life of Southwest Florida through performance and social outreach. The organization is seeking a motivated individual to carry on and grow this tradition in the years to come. 
Duties and responsibilities
The Artistic Director oversees the three ensembles making up the Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers. S/he conducts the 80+ voice all-volunteer auditioned symphonic chorus, a 24-voice chamber chorus, and supervises the conductor of the recently formed City of Palms Youth Choirs. S/he reports to the Board of Directors while working in conjunction with the President and the Artistic Committee.
S/he works closely with the President to fulfill the Mastersingers’ vision, mission, programmatic and artistic goals as articulated by the Board, and is expected to lead the Mastersingers’ artistic endeavors with energy, and artistic and entrepreneurial vision.His/her primary role is to plan and develop every musical aspect of the self-produced performances by chorus. 
S/he must be able to work collaboratively with other choral ensembles and orchestras in the area. The Artistic Director also works with the President and Board to implement strategies for the Mastersingers’ audience development, financial support, and recruitment of singers.
Requirements
     A bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in music education or related field. 
     An advanced music degree (in choral conducting or related field) is preferred. 
     Demonstrated success in directing a chorus of similar (or larger) size with similar artistic goals, and experience conducting works with choir and orchestra.
     A thorough knowledge of choral repertoire with experience in planning and executing concert programs. 
     Ability to work with a variety of adult voices and to develop the vocal proficiency of the choruses. 
     Strong leadership, interpersonal skills with ability to meet schedules, timelines and budgets, and strong public speaking and communication skills.

Compensation of $18,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience.
