In her fifteenth year as a music educator, Katy currently teaches at Denver North High School, a Title I public school working with students from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, and is an affiliate faculty member at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she supervises music student teachers. Previously, Katy taught music in Ohio, Switzerland and China. Since 2017, Katy has been the festival director for the Ad Astra Music Festival, engaging professional artists for a month-long classical summer music festival in rural Kansas.

Holding a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College, Katy regularly serves on the boards of professional music organizations, as a clinician for honor choirs, and presents sessions at conferences around issues of equity in music education and innovation in the choral art. In addition to her work as a conductor and educator, Katy is an active vocalist in the Denver area and performs with groups ranging from professional choirs to her folk trio, Falling for Annie.
