Seattle Pro Musica Presents: Pacific VoicesSeattle Pro Musica In March, we celebrate the universal allure of a cappella choral music with a showcase of works by contemporary Asian and Asian-American composers, including the Indian subcontinent. The composers whose works are represented include Hyo-Won Woo, Sungji Hong, Chen Yi, Zhou Long, Budi Susanto Yohanes, Victor Paranjoti, and A.R. Rahman. Of these, Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) is probably the most familiar to American audiences for his prolific body of work for film and stage, earning him the nickname “the Mozart of Madras.” |
