Festival Chorale Oregon presents Dvorak's Stabat Mater

Festival Chorale Oregon, under the baton of founding director Dr. Solveig Holmquist, will present Antonin Dvorak’s Stabat Mater on Sunday, March 11, beginning at 4:00 PM at St. Mary Church in Mt. Angel.  Soprano soloist Amy Hansen, mezzo-soprano Angela Niederloh, tenor Les Green and bass Robb Harrison will join the 100 voice chorus and full orchestra in performing Dvorak's lavish late Romantic era work, with an exquisite cathedral setting enhancing the musical experience. This rarely-heard choral masterwork by the composer of the beloved "New World Symphony" describes the sorrow of Mary as she witnesses her son's crucifixion.  With beauty and uplifting emotion Dvorak used the traditional Stabat Mater Lenten text to express his consuming grief over the death of his young daughter.   Read more
