Founded in January 1997, Vox Femina Los Angeles gives women voice through the performance of quality choral literature. Diverse in age, race, belief and sexual identity, we are a chorus committed to commissioning new works and raising awareness about issues that affect us as a family of women. We are currently celebrating our 17th season. Forty women make up the chorus, which is a fun "family" to belong to. Membership is by audition only.

When unleashed, the voices and experiences of women have the power to change the world. Join Vox Femina Los Angeles for a transformative afternoon and hear our voices as we complete our Half the Sky concert cycle. Inspired by Pulitzer Prize winners Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn’s powerful and catalyzing book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, we will be singing songs that celebrate the courage and strength of women all across the globe.
As we continue our journey, we now give voice to the experiences of women closer to home through the works of North American composers. Let us stir the soul with a selection of spirituals, challenge the mind with stories of self-expression and identity, and rouse the spirit with civil rights anthems. And we will also vocalize our own experiences as women of Vox with an original commission by local composer Jenni Brandon, who set our own words to music in her piece “We Are Home.”
Come for an afternoon of song and hear our voices fill half the sky!
This performance is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs and Los Angeles County.
