The Chamber Singers of the Chesapeake Chorale features the premiere a new cantata by American composer Bruce Trinkley, 'Herrick’s Lyricks', on April 23rd, 2017.

The Chesapeake Chorale, Bowie, Maryland, begins a two concert exploration of the close relationship between words and music.   The first concert, presented by the Chamber Singers of the Chorale features the premiere a new cantata by American composer Bruce Trinkley,  Herrick’s Lyricks.

Following a very successful collaboration last year on a new work, Mr. Trinkley and Artistic Director Jesse Parker discussed expanding their collaboration with a larger work based on the poems of the 17th-century English poet Robert Herrick.   The performance at All Saints Lutheran church will be the world premiere of Mr. Trinkley’s new cantata and will include select works for chamber chorus and piano.  Concert is free; donations are accepted.
The second installment of this concert series that explores the intricate collaboration between words and music will be on May 20th at St. Matthew’s UMC in Bowie.  The Chorale will perform Jeffrey Van’s spellbinding suite A Procession Winding Around Me. Scored for chorus and guitar, Van’s masterpiece is a setting of four Civil War poems by Walt Whitman: By the bivouac's fitful flame; Beat! beat! drums!; Look down, fair moon; and Reconciliation.
