A tribute to the music of French composers Francis Poulenc, Maurice Duruflé, and Gabriel Fauré.
The centerpiece of the concert is Poulenc's exuberant and soul-affirming "Gloria," which echoes Poulenc's playfulness and love of life. The performance also features Poulenc's organ concerto, a work commissioned by the heiress of the Singer sewing machine fortune who, after hearing the concerto, wrote these words to Poulenc: “Its profound beauty haunts me.”
