Choral Workshop with Composer Bob Chilcott
The Choralis Foundation is pleased to offer area singers a special opportunity to participate in a day-long choral workshop led by British composer Bob Chilcott. Mr. Chilcott is well-known both as the composer of more than 130 works published by Oxford University Press and for the 12 years he spent as a member of the British vocal group The King's Singers. He also is Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Singers.
The workshop will focus on preparation of Mr. Chilcott's Salisbury Vespers and will culminate in a performance of the work at 3:30 pm. Salisbury Vespers was premiered by 600 musicians at Salisbury Cathedral in 2009, to great critical acclaim. The performance will be free and open to the public.
The work is scored for both chorus and children's choir. Thus, the workshop is open to any experienced singer aged 10 and older. Also, those who might like to attend the workshop, but not sing, are welcome to register as auditors.
The workshop registration fee includes a box lunch and a copy of Salisbury Vespers. A discounted fee is available to students and auditors.
Workshop participants are asked to dress in black and white for at least the 3:30 performance.
