Choral Society of Pensacola: Fall Auditions
Audition to sing with The Choral Society of Pensacola, a community of volunteer singers, as they begin preparation for their fall performances: "A Celebration for Chorus and Band" and Handel’s "Messiah," the Society's traditional holiday concert.
All singers age 16 and older are welcome. The audition process is brief and informal, beginning with a written quiz to gauge musical knowledge, followed by a private session with artistic director/conductor Xiaolun Chen to determine vocal range and ability. No preparation is necessary, but singers are requested to set an audition time. Contact Charlie Smoke at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rehearsals will take place Monday evenings at 7 on the PSC campus and begin on August 13. The Society will present “A Celebration" on Thursday, November 1. The program will feature well-known, well-loved works by Howard Hanson ("Song of Democracy"), Marta Keen (“Homeward Bound”), and John Rutter (“A Distant Land” and "Gloria"). In addition, it will showcase the winners of Young Voices 2018, the Choral Society’s first singing competition for high school and college students. Then the Society continues an annual tradition with a performance of Handel's beloved masterpiece "Messiah" on December 1.
