February in France featuring Fauré Requiem

Join Ragnar Bohlin in a fun singing session where he unlocks some of his secrets of interpretation of this gorgeous choral gem and more French choral gems.

SF Symphony Chorus Director Ragnar Bohlin will join us from his home in Sweden for 75-minute sessions on Feb. 13, 20 and 27 to hone your choral singing skills. We'll gather for healthy vocal warm-ups and then explore the Fauré Requiem, unlocking some of his secrets of interpretation. Along with the Requiem we will explore Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine and beautiful works by other French composers such as Josquin, Couperin and LeJeune. You don’t have to attend all four sessions – attend as many or as few as you like.

" Having been a singer myself, with the fortune of studying with great singer Nicolai Gedda, I have collected many tools from various singers and voice teachers. I look forward to sharing my views on vocal technique in general and choral singing in particular.  In these times of lockdown and social distancing it is more vital than ever that we not forget the power of the instrument we all have inside us -- the voice."
