Cantata Ebraica - Music of the Italian Jews
Based on the format of a presentation at the Smithsonian Institution last March, join us online for a delightful musical tour of Italy through the lens of Jewish melodies, led by Hazzan Dr. Ramón Tasat, Artistic Director of Kolot HaLev.
Kolot HaLev – Voices of the Heart – is Greater Washington, DC’s independent community choir focusing on Jewish choral music, under the artistic direction of Hazzan Dr. Ramón Tasat. We continue to meet weekly in cyberspace, preparing for the time when we can return to rehearsing and performing in real space. Kolot HaLev is a 501(c)3 organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.
Join us online for a delightful musical tour of Italy through the lens of Jewish melodies, led by Hazzan Dr. Ramón Tasat, Artistic Director of Kolot HaLev. His research has unearthed many of these rarely heard musical treasures which originated in Jewish communities (Florence, Livorno, Rome and Venice) or were composed by musicians such as Gioachino Rossini, Federico Consolo, Michelle Bolaffi, and Benedetto Marcello. In addition to liturgical music, examples from opera and popular song will be on the itinerary. Some musical examples will be excerpted from past Kolot HaLev performances.
