Encore Chorale Summer Institute at Chautauqua Institution
Now in its 13th year, the Encore Chorale Summer Institute in Chautauqua has been drawing singers from across the country who are interested in improving their vocal techniques, rehearsing challenging choral music and enjoying a week in a beautiful setting with fellow music lovers.
Encore Creativity for Older Adults, America’s largest and fastest-growing choral organization for adults over 55, will again provide the opportunity for older adults to sing, learn and perform at four Encore Summer Institutes in 2020. At the famed Chautauqua Institution, each morning starts with a yoga or movement class and continues with rehearsals, sight reading and vocal technique workshops throughout the day. At the end of the program, singers perform in a final concert. Singers receive the full experience of this historic educational center and resort with guided tours, accommodations and relaxing meals at the beautiful Athenaeum Hotel and evening recitals and performances by artists of national and international acclaim. The program is open to both newcomers and singers from Encore’s 23 ensembles across the country. Not only do the camps present an enriching environment, but they also create a new community for participants. “We aim to provide an unparalleled experience for our singers where they can enjoy beautiful surroundings, bond with friends old and new and share their passion for music with others,” said Jeanne Kelly, Encore’s Founder and Artistic Director. All-inclusive package is $1,470 single occupancy or $1,275, double occupancy. There are also rates for commuters and non-singing spouses. Round-trip bus fare from the DC area - $195.
