Tom Peterson is a conductor and composer currently finishing a DMA in choral conducting at the University of Arizona. He is completing his first year as music director of the Master Chorale of Flagstaff and has served as music director at Christ Church of the Ascension (Episcopal) since 2013.
An Arizona native, Tom earned a BM in theory and composition from Arizona State University and a MMus in composition and conducting from the Royal College of Music in London. He then spent four years on the faculty of Phoenix College, where he taught music theory, ear training, and music history.
His compositions have been performed locally (Audience Choice Award at the Classical Revolution PHX Centennial Composition Competition), nationally (Trinity Wall Street Choir, ACDA Western Region Conference, Oregon Bach Festival), and internationally (Festival Chorus, Ossian Ensemble, Sounds New Festival, UK).
When he's not behind a music stand, he loves to get outside and hike with his wife, Teriann, and their dog, Roxie.
