Be part of creating new choral repertoire AND support Chorus America!

Every year, Chorus America presents two commission consortium opportunities to choruses—one for SATB choruses and one for children & youth choruses.  These consortiums allow participating groups to be a part of commissioning a new work from well-loved composers and premier the work in their community.  Proceeds from the commissioning fees go to support the core programs and services of Chorus America.

We are thrilled to announce that this year, renowned composers Stephen Paulus and Alice Parker will donate commissions.

Stephen Paulus Consortium Commission:  Award-winning composer Stephen Paulus will compose a 3-4 minute piece, for SATB choir and accompaniment, text to be announced. Mr. Paulus's compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by choruses throughout the world. The piece will be secular but can be performed in a church setting.  The cost to participate is just $750 per chorus.

Details: Participating choruses will receive the completed piece by January 2014 and will receive enough printed copies for each of their singers.  They can premier the work in their communities until June 30, 2014, at which time the piece will be available for sale to the public. Participating ensembles will share the commissions (and printed dedications) equally. Paulus participation form and payment must be processed prior to August 15, 2013.

Alice Parker Commission for Children/Youth choruses:  Composer Alice Parker offers a SA or SSA piece with piano accompaniment for children/youth choruses. Alice Parker's life-work has been in choral and vocal music and her compositions have been performed and recorded by choruses throughout the world.  The cost to participate is just $300 per chorus.

Details:  Piece will be delivered in PDF format to participating groups in October 2013. Groups will have exclusive rights to premiere the piece up to May 31, 2014, after which time the piece will be available to the public. Participants will share the dedication equally in the final printed version distributed by the publisher. Participating ensembles will share the commissions (and printed dedications) equally.  Parker participation form and payment must be processed prior to August 15, 2013.
