Application Deadline:

Children's Chorus of Washington (CCW) seeks a music instructor for its brand new Prep Class, geared toward 7-8 year old students who have little or no prior singing experience.  An ideal candidate would be creative, energetic, innovative, and committed to providing quality choral experience with every student.  This semester-long class meets once a week for 45 minutes, starting this coming fall (September through December).  It is a non-auditioned, non-performing program that introduces 7-8 year-old boys and girls to the fundamentals of singing at the right developmental stage.  Each session combines interactive musical games, dancing, and playing simple percussion instruments.  While teaching proper breathing, posture, and basic music reading skills, this program plants the seeds for a lifelong relationship with music for each child.  At the end of each semester, the students will demonstrate and share what they have learned with their family and friends.

Under the supervision of Artistic Director, the music instructor will help develop the curriculum, teach anywhere from 10 to 30 students, and report progress as needed.

The candidate must have at least 3-4 years of teaching/conducting experience in classrooms or choirs (especially with 6-8 year old's).  Undergraduate degree in relevant field is required; post-graduate degree is preferred.  Playing an instrument in rehearsals (piano or guitar) will be part of instruction.
