HYOC (Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus) is holding open auditions for Ulu Tree on Saturday, March 17, 2010.  Auditions open to boys and girls grades 4 –12.  All auditions held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa – Music Department.

HONOLULU, HAWAII (March 9, 2012) - HYOC (Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus) is holding open auditions for Ulu Tree on Saturday, March 17, 2010.  Auditions open to boys and girls grades 4 –12.  All auditions held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa – Music Department.
Written for HYOC by local composer Herb Mahelona, this youth opera is the 2012 HYOC production of OPERAtunities, a program designed to teach theatre skills to a new generation of performers.  In this three-week intensive workshop, students gain first-hand experience in all aspects of production, including performance with a live orchestra, proper vocal technique and dramatic acting skills, costuming, stage makeup and prop construction.

Interested students should arrive 1/2 hour before audition time to complete registration.  Please bring the piano score to your audition song for our accompanist.  Scholarships are available.
Rehearsals are held during the last three weeks of June 2012, with performances during the July 4th holiday.
