Application Procedures
The Dale Warland Singers Commission Award is presented by Chorus America in partnership with the American Composers Forum. The award was created to recognize a chorus entering into an artistically meaningful and mutually beneficial partnership with a composer of their choice to contribute a new work to the choral repertoire. NEW! Eligibility now rotates through a three-year cycle: adult volunteer choruses (2011), children/youth choruses (2012), and professional and professional-core choruses (2013). To apply, prepare a statement (no more than five pages) that discusses the following criteria:
The winning chorus will receive a cash award of $5,000, designated towards the commissioning fee (no portion of it should be used for concert production costs). It is the responsibility of the chorus to reimburse the composer within ten days of receiving the award. The new work must be premiered by the chorus within two years after receiving the award. Please note: You must submit five (5) copies of each of the required application elements above. This means you must send 5 copies of the chorus recording and 5 copies of the composer's scores, in addition to 5 copies of the proposal, budget, and CD track listing. Please do not staple or bind the application materials together. All application materials, except recordings and scores, must be on 8.5 X 11-inch paper and three-hole punched. Recordings and scores will not be returned. Applications must be sent using a tracking number (USPS Delivery Confirmation will suffice).
