Chorus/organization name: Trinity Wall Street Category: Artistic Duties and responsibilities: Located at the head of Wall Street, Trinity Church has been part of New York City’s and our nation’s history since its charter in 1697. Today, the organization has grown to include many important areas of focus and is collectively known as Trinity Wall Street. Most importantly, we are an Episcopal parish offering daily worship services and faith formation programs at Trinity Church, St. Paul’s Chapel, and online at trinitywallstreet.org. In addition, Trinity Wall Street includes Trinity Real Estate, which manages the parish’s six million square feet of commercial real estate in lower Manhattan; Trinity Grants; John Heuss House, a twenty-four hour drop-in shelter; St. Margaret’s House, providing subsidized housing to the elderly; Trinity Preschool; Trinity Institute, an annual theological conference; Trinity Archives, where records of long-term value are organized, preserved, and maintained; and an extensive arts program presenting more than 100 concerts each year through Concerts @ One, the Trinity Choir, and the Downtown Youth Choir. Trinity Church has a history of funding a part-time Organ Scholar who is an apprentice to the Music Department and learns much of what it takes to work in the field of sacred music. This position would require a student/professional to work 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the Episcopal liturgical and musical tradition and the ability to work Sundays. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ø Play for 1-3 weekday noon services a week Ø Play for services and events, as needed (e.g., weddings, funerals, etc.) Ø Assist with accompanying the Trinity Choristers as for services, rehearsals and concerts Ø Play organ voluntaries for Sunday services (1-2 times a month) Ø Assist with 9am and 11:15 a.m. Sunday services Ø Assist with the 5:15 p.m. Thursday Congregational Evensong as needed Ø Assist with accompanying the Trinity Choir rehearsals as needed Ø Assist with database/music library work Ø Music Department office assistance as needed Ø Helping with Trinity Choir Concerts/Organ Festival Concerts We offer a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ø Knowledge of the Episcopal liturgical and musical tradition Ø Proficiency in keyboard/organ playing (especially service/hymn playing and choral accompaniment) Ø Skills in organ improvisation and organ repertoire Ø Proficiency in choral conducting and chorister training programs and rehearsal technique Ø The ability to sing and to accompany choirs Ø Proven organizational and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with staff and volunteers Ø Proficiency in MS Office and music notation software e.g. Sibelius or Finale preferred REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS: Ø Masters of Music degree or higher degree – in process or completed
