Job title: Director of Marketing and Public Relationships Chorus/organization name: The Choral Arts Society of Washington Category: Administrative Duties and responsibilities: The Director of Marketing and Public Relations will develop strategies, initiate contacts, and direct all marketing, public relations, and communications activities. Specific areas of responsibility include creating, planning, monitoring, supervising, implementing, and evaluating ongoing marketing and public relations efforts and development and oversight of the department’s budget. Marketing responsibilities: •Institutional Positioning •Annual Campaign for full concert season: subscription and single tickets •Promotion of individual concerts, including family concerts and MLK Tribute •Ongoing Market Research •Ad placement in print, radio and electronic media •Comprehensive Marketing Materials •Website •Promotion and Distribution of CD recordings Public Relations responsibilities: •Creating press releases, features, and critical reviews •Generating publicity from local, national, and international media •Research and raise institutional visibility •Organization and preservation of institutional archives Requirements: Master’s degree and three years experience Excellent communications, writing and editing skills Ability to take independent initiative in a team environment Strong computer skills (knowledge of ProVenue database a plus) Knowledge of and familiarity with local and national cultural communities Ability to set and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours Sense of humor Appreciation of music Compensation: competitive salary Benefits: full medical with drug, dental and eye plans; life insurance; and retirement plan Chorus/organization description: The Choral Arts Society of Washington (CASW) is recognized as a leading arts organization in Washington, DC and as one of the country’s premier symphonic choruses. Now entering its 44th season, CASW performs at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts under the direction of Founder and Artistic Director Norman Scribner. The Society performs with the National Symphony Orchestra and many of the leading conductors and orchestras of the world. Engaged in an active program of touring, recordings, commissions, local and national radio broadcasts and cutting-edge education and community programs, the Society has a budget of $2.2 million, with $1.6 million that is fundraised.
