Duties and responsibilities:

The Development Director creates, manages and executes all fundraising programs, activities and initiatives that attract private and public support for the Berkshire Choral Festival. This senior level position reports to President and CEO and works with the Board’s Development Committee.

•Developing a comprehensive and integrated approach to all forms of fund raising, including the annual fund, planned giving, corporate sponsorships and grants, special initiatives and capital campaign

•Managing annual fund campaign and launching new planned giving effort

•Establishing levels of giving and managing appropriate recognition

•Cultivating existing and developing new relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations and government agencies

•Working with the Board to establish and cultivate a high net worth Advisory Council

•Preparing compelling communications materials to secure donor engagement and support

•Organizing and maintaining all donor records and other relevant materials

Requirements:

•Bachelors Degree; minimum of five to seven years of relevant work experience

•Direct experience and proven success in meeting fundraising goals for annual and other campaigns

•Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

•Ability to work autonomously under pressure with attention to detail

•Experience with major donors and volunteers

•Knowledge/appreciation of Classical music

•Extensive computer experience, including database and development software skills

Compensation: Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.

Chorus/organization description: The Berkshire Choral Festival is the premier international educational institution dedicated to enhancing the skills of choral singers, while extending the knowledge and appreciation of choral singing and its tradition to singers and audiences. Founded in 1982, BCF is a non-profit organization which brings together over 1,300 adult choristers each season. In groups of 185, singers spend a week rehearsing, studying, and performing the great symphonic choral works under the leadership of internationally renowned choral conductors, professional music faculties, and full symphony orchestras. Venues include Sheffield, Massachusetts; Vancouver, British Columbia; Canterbury, England; Prague, Czech Republic; and Salzburg, Austria. In addition, BCF provides professional development and scholarship opportunities for young choral musicians. BCF strives for quality performances that challenge the chorus and attract outstanding conductors and appreciative audiences.
