Duties and responsibilities: Envisioning, planning, and leading the production of our choral music performance season in collaboration with a volunteer leadership, community chorus singers and musicians, and other arts groups and supporters in local, regional, and international settings

Requirements: Professional education, training, and experience in vocal and instrumental music scholarship, teaching, solo and ensemble rehearsal and performance, and choral conducting; Demonstrated knowledge and mastery of various musical styles and of his or her voice and instrument; A comprehensive knowledge of the voice and orchestral instruments; Demonstrated artistic leadership in envisioning, planning, and production of a musical performance season in collaboration with a volunteer leadership, community chorus singers and musicians, and other arts groups and supporters in local, regional, and international settings; Committed to the musical, organizational, and civic advancement of his or her ensemble; Actively engaged in the community and world at large; A visionary, motivator, creative thinker, and hard worker with resilience and endurance; Ethical, disciplined, scholarly, passionate about the work; and a life long learning advocate; Team builder and diplomat with an understanding, appreciation, and talent for harnessing and directing individual, small group, and large group dynamics to achieve the artistic and community good; Availability to rehearse Thursday evenings 7 to 9 PM mid-August to mid-May, willingness to conduct auditioned ensemble or sectional rehearsals as needed and agreed from 6 to 7 PM on Thursday evenings prior to regular rehearsal.

Compensation: Depends on qualifications; up to $5k for a 10 month contract.

Chorus/organization description: The BCC is a responsive, ambitious, fun, and hard working non-audition 50+ member community chorus with local, regional, and international performance experience in a wide range of classical and popular musical and cultural styles. Our 2008 -09 season will be a celebration of our 20th anniversary culminating in a reunion concert in the Spring of '09

Application procedure: A letter of interest and a resume with relevant professional education and choral conducting experience and references should be submitted by Monday, March 24, 2008. We will screen submissions and contact top candidates by March 31 with interviews in Bisbee to be completed in early April. Finalists will be invited to auditions directing the chorus through vocalizations and music selections in mid-April. A $50 honorarium will be provided to finalists who audition with the BCC. We plan to make our decision and negotiate an offer by the end of April. Weekly rehearsals are on Thursday evenings 7 to 9 PM with sectional and/or ensemble rehearsals set for 6 to 7 PM at the director's discretion, and extra rehearsal outside this schedule may be scheduled by the AD as needed..
