Chorus/organization name: Alexandria Choral Society Category: Artistic Duties and responsibilities: 1. Set the artistic direction and programming for the group, arrange for instrumentalists, soloists, etc., to fulfill said programming, and set up an initial budget for same. The Artistic Director is responsible to the Board of Directors for the execution of all artistic activities of the group, and in assisting the Baord in it's establishment of goals. 2. Prepare and direct all rehearsals and performances of the adult chorus. 3. Audition all prospective members of the adult chorus. 4. Serve as an advisory member of the Board of Directors. 5. Consult fully with the Artistic Director of the Children's Chorus for all joint performances. 6. Work closely with the Development Director on all aspects of publicity, fundraising, and promotion. Requirements: 1. Artistic Vision 2. Experience and skill in the direction of choirs and instrumentalists. 3. Experience in strategic planning and audience development. 4. Willingness to explore opportunites for growth and assist in the expansion of the organization. 5. A diverse performance repertoire. Compensation: 15,000-17,000 annually Benefits: Paid tuition and travel for approved conferences, fundraisers, and related professional activities. Chorus/organization description: ACS is an adult, mixed chourus of approximately 40 volunteer members, known for performing at a high amateur level, and which is on the cusp of growth. One of the flagship arts organizations in the dynamic Alexandria, Virginia community, ACS is also respected throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Recipient of the first ASCAP award ever presented to a chorus for adventuresome programming, ACS has also performed with the National Symphony Pops, Rosemary Clooney, Marvin Hamlisch, and most recently, with the Alexandria Symphony. It offers no fewer than three subscription concerts per season, as well as a holiday concert, community appearances and other performances as the opportunities arise. ACS also has a very well-regarded children's chorus which oftens performs with the adult chorus. This past year, the children's chorus performed by invitation, at the Pentagon. Additional contracted staff include: Accompanist, Children's Artistic Director, and Development Director.
